First Self Build after Architecture School - A garage and studio at Rothienorman Aberdeenshire for James + Sandra McAvoy.
Home made from native Timber, local stone and a bit of sweat.
It was complemented with a landscape comprising native deciduous hedgerows to break the wind and a wild flower garden.

Then a collaboration with Neil Sutherland on Glenelg Candles for Eddie Stiven and Donna Dimambro.
Saddly the candle makers burned down in 2007 after 10 years of service to Glenelg

It was an early experiment in Wood framing and Turf roofing that stemmed many good things.
Duntrodden House followed shortly there after.

Back in the days before any sight of the Scottish Empowerment Act- The residents of Eigg struggled to have basic facilities . In collaboration with Peter Gibb i drew a Village Hall . It looked for position in Landscape and for a form that dealt organically with a harsh climate. It served in the end to raise the debate about Land ownership and helped Leslie Riddoch, Alistair Mackintosh and the residents to form the Isle of Eigg Trust .

Facilitating a window, natural light + ventilation ( no deep space ) for every office worker. Note _ Small practices were easily cutting a crust and beginning on this circuit of 3 stage competitions. The competition process promoting good architecture being applied to every public and many private buildings. Work undertaken with Shmiedeskamp + Petrzika architecten
