This 1890s Tenement by Alexander Greek Thompson's business partner - James Turnbull was ravaged by fire in the 1970s and lay empty for ten years , The 1970's reinstatement repairs were rapid and not to a high standard. The owner has spent the last 15 years undoing the damage of that. Cornicing was remade on site to match originals. Fire places were put back in place and the fabric of the building brought back up to a reasonable standard. All floors were relaid in Native Larch and missing acoustic deadening was reinstated. The redundant press was taken out and the Kitchen and dining rooms were made open plan to each either. Light now floods from triptych windows through the full depth of the apartment. A wet room was installed and all Plumbing upgraded. A wholesome and sturdy refurbishment process undertaken slowly and carefully.
