+ Creative Remediation - Glen Buck - South Ayrshire.
Glenbuck - South Ayrshire
This was a post remediation Development exercise undertaken for Scottish Coal.
It considered options on long term Site Planning, that dealt with the legacy of former Open Cast Mining in South Ayrshire.
Our work included new Dwellings, Eco tourism, a Visitor Centre, water scape and new native woodland landscaping.
Upon visiting prior to a start on the Design work - The Landscape was silent, the inhabitants entirely gone and the ecology minimal.
Standing in Glenbuck gave you a sense of unease and uncertainty.
Understanding the site of the demolished " Glenbuck House " gave some indicators of natural attributes remaining in the altered landscape. - A walled garden had escaped the mining and some remnants of mature deciduous woodland.
We tried in this exercise to breathe a little life back into a "non place " via mixed use, including places of work, domestic inhabitation and activity for visitors.
